Background
Because Marshalls fabulous finds vary from store to store they can’t sell product on their website. To promote the “fabulous finds” concept they find creative ways of using customer-generated content and post that to their areas on social media platforms.
The idea behind the Project Fab Tumblr site was to have several hand-selected bloggers who were also active Marshalls customers write posts about their Marshalls purchases.
The Project
The challenge of this site was creating a pseudo CMS inside the restrictions of the Tumblr API while following the creative vision. Obstacles overcome included:
- Displaying a different thumbnail image from the images that are posted within the article. (This is harder than you would think.)
- Custom font usage with cross browser domain restrictions. (Base64 encoding for the win!)
- Supplying the client with basic HTML templates to give the text descriptions some extra design/layout love
- Developing within Tumblr’s one-long-page-of-code-manages-every-page-of-your-entire-site structure
